AKEON STUDIO

Por Álvaro Chang-Say

My journey as an industrial designer began in my childhood, inspired by my parents, both architects, who taught me how to draw, use tools, and to work with my hands in their own workshop. These early encounters with manufacturing processes and artisanal techniques were crucial in shaping my career path. I hold a bachelor’s degree in industrial design from PUCP, a bachelor’s in education from USIL, and master’s studies in Architecture at UNI, as well as several international postgraduate courses related to design and urbanism.

My professional journey has been versatile and diverse, characterized by a personal style that merges tradition with innovation, artisanal techniques with contemporary design. Over more than three decades of experience, I have managed furniture design companies, taught at universities, participated in international exhibitions. I have been part of collective projects such as TOQAPU and Recurseo, and served as the coordinator for “De facto,” a United Nations project aimed at connecting designers and artisans across Ibero-America.

With AKEON Studio, I present my new personal brand. This is the space where I develop various projects focused on cultural identity, recycling, and artisanal design. After over three decades as a designer, AKEON Studio has become the point of convergence for my experiences, knowledge, and influences, bringing to life proposals with a strong and distinctive identity.
